Concerning The Times: Howard Green (00:09.326)
Hello friend. Welcome back to the Concerning the Times podcast. I'm Howard Green. It is so good to be with you again today. it's been a while since we've done a podcast, but we're gonna go ahead and dig back in. We're entering sort of the middle of July, the hot time here in the United States, and it's so good to be with you today. like I said, it's been a while, but we're gonna do today is something a little bit different and something that I've been wanting to do for a while. And although you may think it doesn't pertain to you, please.
I listen to this till the end. I hear what I'm going to say, but I think you'll be edified and encouraged once you understand what I'm going to say. Today, what I want to do is introduce an organization that I belong to called CMFI. And CMFI stands for Christian Ministerial Fellowship International. It's an international group of ministers, churches, parachurch ministries, evangelists.
Missionaries, Bible teachers, pastors, church leaders, supporters and friends from across the globe. And when I say across the globe, I mean we have people all over the place. of course I'm based here myself in the United States of America. We have a couple of members, a few members here. We're we're small in number, but but big in faith and dedication to the Lord. And maybe with your help we'll grow that if the Lord's leading you to join with us.
And we have a lot of members in the United Kingdom, and in England and in Northern Ireland, really all over the place. There are a lot of people there. And we have, I'm gonna look at my list here. We have people, a lot of members in Spain, we have members in Israel, far off in Bangladesh, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Liberia, many, many brothers and sisters in Nigeria.
Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, India, and the Philippines. And we're growing as the Lord leads people to this very, very precious organization. So before we go any further, what what is CMFI? well if I can explain CMFI in my own words, sort of in a in a with an elevator pitch, sort of a a 10,000 foot view.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (02:36.886)
CMFI is really an organization of all the groups I told you about, ministers and churches and supporters, people of like-minded faith that are desiring fellowship based on the Bible and based on the Holy Spirit and based on sound doctrine. That, frankly, friends, is getting harder and harder to find in this world today. And you know it, and I know it.
And again, I'm not one of those ministers to think all is lost and and and there's just a few people serving the Lord. No, I think there's a remnant and there's many people around the world that serve Jesus. But unfortunately, a a a much larger and and growing number of churches and ministry leaders and preachers and people that are becoming apostate, that are leaving the faith and that's once delivered once for all to the saints and leaving sound doctrine and and trading that for ecumenism.
and and basically every wind of doctrine that comes along that doesn't accord and line up with the with this book with the word of god and you know it's been said that a lot of people know people by what they're against but it's important to tell you sort of what we're for and that is for for sound biblical doctrine for sound teaching which is again it's becoming harder to find for fellowship of the believers
Brothers and sisters in Christ and a support for one another. I mean, we're all about praying with one another, encouraging one another, sort of cheering each other onto the finish line. and as I said, encouragement that is such a scarce commodity these days in in the body of Christ. we need to encourage one another. As we see the return of the Lord nearing, getting closer, I think.
Encouragement is is really waning and and we need encouragement. And if you didn't hear what I said, I'm going to tell you again, we really need encouragement. but encouragement for what? Encouragement to finish well, to endure to the end, to hold up the standard, which is the Bible. It's it's the it's the word of truth, to be led by the Holy Spirit in everything that we do. And like I said, to be rooted and grounded in the Word. And that encouragement goes a long way because there's so
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (05:01.51)
many distractions going on in this day and age. And I feel like as believers, as as ministry leaders, we have to really take each other by hand and encourage one another and just say, come on, we got we got this much further. We can do this. All Christians really. so CMFI is certainly active in the area of encouragement and and support, accountability. And that's another big thing. one of the things that originally drew me
What the Holy Spirit did, but that drew me to CMFI as a group would be this that when I and many of you know this, but when I started and and some of you won't, I started my ministry concerning the times back in 2013, beginning of 2014, as the Lord birthed that this ministry and called me back into full-time ministry. I
I was lacking something. And what that was was although I belonged to a local church and I believe very strongly, very strongly in the local church. I was sort of lacking that as a minister of a a ministry that's sort of outside of my local church, I was lacking that accountability. And I'm not a cowboy, I'm not a do it yourself guy. I believe that we should have a spiritual oversight and accountability.
and and certain criteria that we need to meet to to even call ourselves ministers and to have a a viable ministry that's recognized by by other believers that are that are certainly rooted and grounded in their faith. And what I had found that was lacking in many local churches, not just in my former church that I used to go to, but I hear this all over the place. Many, many people around the country would say something along the lines of this, Well Howard, you know, I love the Lord. I have a ministry, a I'm a I'm a
A pastor of a very small church or even a medium sized church, or I I do a home Bible study, we do a home fellowship, or I do prison ministry, or I do ministry with the homeless downtown, or I sort of I have an itinerant ministry, or again, like I said, I'm a pastor of a local church without any large denomination over me. And what I'm lacking is accountability and a sense of fellowship and belonging, sort of a covering.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (07:20.044)
And I would say yes, an amen to that, because that's exactly what I was lacking when I started my ministry. And very quickly the Lord urged me, you need that. And and I totally believed that. So what I did was I did a big internet search and you know, looked around and put out a lot of feelers. And what I came up with and what I saw and through several different channels was Christian Ministerial Fellowship International, CMFI. Now there's one that's based
I believe it's here in the US. It's not the one I'm talking about, although I'm obviously a branch member here in the US. but they are based out of the UK. So the website is cmfi.org.uk. And if you don't type it in like that, you might get a different organization. But again, it's cmfi.org.uk. And if you get that, you'll certainly find the right website. So as I did my research and I looked into CMFI.
What I found was very refreshing and very surprising.
Concerning The Times: John Angliss (08:26.894)
Hello and welcome to this little clip about the Christian Ministerial Fellowship International, otherwise known as CMFI. My name is John Anglis and I'm the chairman of the council of this organization which was founded in 2006. It exists to advance the Christian faith by establishing a fellowship.
for the furtherance and propagation and practice of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through associated biblical ministries and churches. It has sought to establish an organization that would meet the needs of men in ministry who were taking a stand for biblical truth.
Concerning The Times: John Angliss (09:12.302)
And it was evident that there was need for a ministerial organization such as CMFI and a point of contact that would provide essential spiritual support, encouragement, and credentials for biblically sound ministers. Our inaugural meeting in 2006 brought together 13 men who laid the foundation, constitutional and doctrinal principles of CMFI.
And these were agreed upon when a Council of Elders was elected and began to implement that vision. The succeeding years have seen CMFI establishing its home base in the United Kingdom and in Ireland and growing and developing into an organization with members as far afield as the Philippines, Australia, South Africa, USA and India. And we welcome you to thoughtfully and prayerfully.
Consider CMFI and to seek as to whether the Lord will have a place for you among the fellowship of its members. Our website will give you further information on the specifics that we stand for, and we trust that many of you will be moved by the Holy Spirit to make contact with us in the days which lie ahead. Thank you and God bless you for listening.
This was not just some far-off fellowship in in the UK, based out of the UK. It was just not some loose-knit group of people who name the name of Jesus. It was more than that. This was this was much more than that. and it was not a a place where you can write in and they'll provide you papers and credentials and good luck with that. We'll see you later. none of that. No pay for play, no loose-knit group of people. What I found was totally different. What I found
was an organization based, yes, out of the United Kingdom, but with many facets and many locations all around the world. Like I said, I just named I just named several of them and we have branches everywhere. And I think we're up to several hundred members now, if I'm not mistaken. But that's that's the cool thing. CMFI, the group of of men and women that belong to this organization are not about numbers because we believe God will add to our numbers as he sees fit.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (11:27.554)
And we see that pattern back in the second chapter of Acts as well. That the Lord will bring the people. The Lord will bring people into the fellowship as he sees fit. but let me encourage you if you are a fellow preacher, bible teacher, missionary, evangelist, itinerant minister, someone with a s you know, a smaller, medium-sized church that you're not under a denomination and you're looking for a biblical fellowship, sound doctrine, a spiritual covering, encouragement.
Prayer, all sound teaching, sound doctrine, all the things that I mentioned, I would strongly encourage you to get in touch with CMFI. And again, if you were outside the United States, you would go to CMFI.org.uk and you would write the contact us there and get in touch with the people over there that I know that would get you give you more information about membership and what it means and what it means for you and how you could bless us.
If you are listening to this podcast and you're in the United States or Canada or Mexico, basically anywhere in North America, you can write me personally. I am the U.S. representative here. And you can either do that. I would say actually the best way to do that is to go to my ministry site, which concerts which is concerningthetimes.com. You go to the contact us page and just put CMFI in the subject line, and of course.
I'll pick up on that and I'll I'll write back to you and I'll get in touch with you and share the information you would need to get know more about CMFI and the great ministry that it is an organization and and how we can help you and how I believe you could encourage us as well. So so let me give you a couple of reasons why CMFI exists. I'm actually going to read them off my screen here because I'm gonna take it right from the right from our website. CMFI exists to establish a fellowship of church leaderships, church leaders, excuse me.
From biblically based churches and ministries. So again, establish a fellowship of Christian leaders from like-minded, biblically based churches and ministries. we also offer support to members in their pastoral and leadership roles by arranging fellowship days. That's local fellowship days, teaching, and over there in the UK. And we also do a ton online as well, so we could talk about that later.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (13:48.076)
We hold yearly retreats for ministers and their wives for spiritual encouragement and prayer. And of course, we provide a we provide accountability to all of our members as well. And that's whether you're a minister or a lay person in the church, you just joined CMF5 for the fellowship. same thing goes there. We we love you. We would we would fellowship with you and support you in prayer and encouragement. And of course, if you go to the website, we have a what we believe,
section talks about our basic doctrine that you'll find it's very biblically sound. there's another link where you can click on there and find a local fellowship close to your area if that's important for you. And in there's some many, like I said, many areas in the UK and Northern Ireland and certain areas of Africa that you'll find numerous fellowships. Here in the US, it'll we are we are a few people. There are there are a few of us, a handful of people, but praise the Lord, we believe that's going to grow as is the Lord leads as well.
And then of course you can click the other link and apply for membership. You can do that if you're in the US too, but I would say actually, if you you're in the United States or Canada or Mexico, just get a hold of me personally on my website and I'll I'll connect with you. one thing I do want to mention as we talk about CMFI, we're not here for just just to to to send out credentials or or for some people to write in just say for financial support. we don't exist for that.
we don't have a mechanism for that. We are really on a major shoestring budget because we believe that we are here primarily as an encourager to ministers and to promote sound doctrine and as a covering and for accountability. So we can support you in that way, most definitely. the other thing that's important too, I want you to know this as a as an itinerant minister, yeah, I belong to a a sh very strong
smaller to mid sized local fellowship here in Indianapolis. and I have a pastor. I am a pastor. I'm a Bible teacher, but I have a a a a wonderful young man that that that shepherds our local flock and love his teaching and no he is not part of C Five but we'll we'll see if we can work on that. I don't even think he knows about it. But praise the Lord. what I'm saying is this is that
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (16:10.698)
Sound doctrine and sound teaching is so hard to find these days. It's few and far between, but but it does exist. The great thing about CMFI, whether you're a pastor, a teacher, itinerant evangelist, a missionary, or if you're a layperson, a wonderful Christian in the church, and you just want this fellowship, I would strongly encourage you to look into CMFI because we have many teaching days, not only overseas, but we also have a lot of online teaching as well.
And the online teaching, we we will have always have teaching times, prayer times. And here's the coolest thing about that is part of our CMFI meetings, we have members from all over the world. And as a Western Christian here in the United States, you know, we think occasionally that you know, we're going through a lot, we're he having a lot of pushback from the government and from people when it comes to Christianity, and I would say yes, I agree, especially over in the UK now. It seems very prevalent.
And in in certain parts of Europe, but it's coming here too. But it's so amazing and it puts things into perspective when I hear from the brothers that that that join us on the Zoom meetings and they come in from Bangladesh, from the Philippines, and especially now from India and areas of northern India, especially, and and even southern India, and and Nigeria and and different places where you know, dear friends, you know that the
Persecution is not just something you read about from say like a like like a like like a like a brother Yun or someone like that. This is happening right now in different parts of the world. And what's really touching to me is that these brothers will call in, I'm sorry, will join in the Zoom and say, listen, here's what we're going through right now. Here's the churches that are being destroyed. Here's the churches that are being closed down. We have members that are having to go, members and friends of members, other pastors that are having to go in and
Check in with the police station every day. Why? Simply because they're preaching the gospel and they're Christians. We have brothers in Nigeria that are that are this far from what's happening in central and northern Nigeria, and it seems to be creeping down. And just stories of what the Lord's doing and protection. And we have brothers, several brothers in India that are like, I mean, persecution's there. They're closing our churches, they're they're breaking up, busting up our churches. We can't meet in our homes.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (18:31.128)
We have to report to police stations. People are being beaten. People are being abused. They're confiscating things. Friends, this is going on right now in this so-called modern, more tolerant planet. It's happening right now. This is not something far off. This is this is happening in as we speak. So you talk about encouragement to hear these stories and to hear what these other Christians are saying from around the world, it's really actually builds up my faith because we have a
chance to pray for them as well and they pray for us. I'm just telling you, I if I could I can't recommend CMFI enough.
And I'm not singing the praises of the organization, although I love Christian Ministerial Fellowship International. I'm not singing the praises of the organization. We are not a denomination, we're just a group of like minded Christians and Christian leaders that believe this fellowship in these last days is very important. And we'll talk about why in just a minute, right out of the scripture. But
Let me say this. If you're a pastor, teacher, evangelist, missionary, like minded, sort of same type role individual, and you're looking for credentials and for ordination, that is something we can we can look into. is it for everyone? No, because not everyone who applies will be accepted based on certain doctrines and things like that. But we believe in in the centrality of the Bible.
Nothing off and left or right deal. We believe the word of God was written by the Spirit, by the Spirit, and through men that were carried along, of course, by the Holy Spirit. We believe that that none's not some scripture is God believed. We believe all scripture is God breathed. And so we're very selective on not on who will credential. And the reason I say that is because
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (20:19.074)
there are there's certain groups and certain quote unquote ministries that will go out and just ordain some of them as they pay a certain amount of money or do this that's it's not us. if you're looking for just to get credentials and and go away and here's my doctrine and it's not really quite lining up the scripture it's sort of believe kind of l like this. No, we're not looking for that. We're looking for like-minded ministers that believe in the whole gospel from from from Genesis one to Revelation 22. If that's you and and you're would like to pursue
credentials and ordination through our ministry. We would certainly look into that. And there's a there's a process you have to go through, a standard progress, process, excuse me. Is it rigorous? Well maybe to some, maybe not to others, but it's it's it's intensive and and we're selective because because the Lord is selective when it comes to who
He would lay hands on. The Bible says to lay hands on no man suddenly, right? We have to do our due diligence, and I would hope that you would too about who we are and what we are. So praise the Lord for that. let's say you're not in ministry. Well, all Christians should be in ministry. Let's say you're not in in in full-time vocational ministry and you're a a believer, a a Christian who just longs for good fellowship, good teaching, and even to support this type of ministry. Well, I would encourage you, of course.
As well, if you're looking for that kind of ministry and fellowship and biblical covering and teaching, to join us in our fellowship at CMFI. we would love to have you. We have many members that are not in full-time ministry, that are that are lay people, they're involved in our churches and and and or maybe can't find a local church because they're out in the middle of nowhere and they're looking for a Christ-centered, Jesus-honoring fellowship. Well, well, here you go. It's concerned yeah, concerning the times. That's my ministry.
the umbrella of Christian Ministerial Fellowship International. But no, I do love the ministry. I love I love what it does for me. And I'll tell you because I can't begin to tell you the number of times I've had a certain situation arise or come up and I want to take it to another brother who's in in ministry as well and I can pick up the phone
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (22:37.014)
I can get on my computer, go to Zoom, FaceTime, whatever the mechanism is, and just in a matter of minutes, touch base with someone from around the world and say, Hey, listen, dear brother, I mean here's what I'm going through, here's what's going on, or or not even that, just I got something to to either to vent about or or I got a testimony and I want to share what the Lord's doing in in the ministry, not because of me, but because of him. And I want to share that with someone and how refreshing it is to pick up the phone, go to the computer and have
very sweet fellowship with like-minded brothers and sisters. It's it's awesome because the Lord's central in everything we do. so again I I would say if you're a minister and you feel like you're not plugged in to a to a a larger fellowship, to a you have any covering or protection over you and no accountability, especially if you just started out, give us give us a call, contact us, email
Email us and I would love to get in contact with you. Like I said, if you're around the world, not in North America, you're gonna go to the website, which is cmfi.org.uk. I can't tell you the number of people I've talked to that have said, listen, we need sort of accountability, we need fellowship. Well, like I said, well check us out and see if we can get together.
Why is this so important? And there are there are numerous reasons, but at the heart of CMFI, why is this important? Let me read this to you.
Here's what Paul says in Second Timothy chapter four.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (24:18.86)
I charge you, brothers, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is the judge living and the dead, and by his appearing in his kingdom, preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching. And why? For the time is coming when people will not endorse sound doctrine, will not endorse sound teaching.
But they'll have itching ears and they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions. And will turn away. Boy, is that happening or what? And will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. And then of course we know that's happening now. This is like right now. This is not something that's far off. Yet Paul wrote this two thousand, almost two thousand years ago, and it was certainly present then. Like he said, I'm afraid after our departure, ravenous wolves will come in.
Twisting the scripture. And man, we if we were there then, we are there now for sure. But of course, Paul, being the encourager that he is, talks to Timothy and says, As for you, as for us, all right, always be sober-minded, enduring suffering, and do the work of an evangelist and fulfill your ministry. Why is that? Because just as Paul said, we would have much of Jesus Christ, we would have much of our great Savior.
That's why we do what we do. That's why we're here. That's why we do ministry. And that's why we're ministry defines our lives. Everything for the Lord Jesus and why we have this much time to work. Amen. Why else? Well, flip back over to first Timothy four. Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of God.
Of demons, and some translations say doctrines of demons, through the sincerity of liars whose consciences are seared. Stop right there for a second. Friends, many, many, many hirelings and would-be preachers and false teachers are out there distorting the truth. And we're in a time when we have to know the truth from the lie. And you know what Jesus said? Jesus said when he was praying.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (26:40.518)
Sanctify them in the truth, thy word is truth. Friends, if we don't have a benchmark and a standard of truth, we're in trouble. And so many churches are buying into the nonsense of this modern time when you have your truth, I have mine, but it's a very loving thing, just do agree to disagree, and we'll go ahead and accept this and not accept that. Friends, what are we doing? We have this much time left. We have to have a standard of truth. If this Bible doesn't mean what it says and says what it means,
And we do cut and paste theology, we have really lost the plot. Thank the Lord, there's a remnant, a remnant of men who will not twist the scripture, who will teach the word accurately and fully with the unction of the Holy Spirit as the Lord leads to people who need it.
And think about it too, if you're not a preacher, if you're if you're someone that's in a church or you're in a fellowship, or you're in a s you know, Bible study or small group, and just a Christian maybe far off that doesn't have that kind of fellowship, how much more so would I encourage you to join CMFI to get sound teaching and sound doctrine and encourage one another in that? As in all the more, right? As Hebrews 10 25 says, as we see the day approaching. And friends, this CMFI is not to negate your local church.
Is not in place of your local church because every leader, every servant in CMFI, including myself, will tell you, no, no, no. We are not that. We're not a substitute for your local church. We believe very strongly. I belong to my local church. I minister in my local church, and all the leadership in CMFI either pastors a local church or ministers in a local church or supports local churches and they're very involved. So we we totally are for the local body of Christ. I mean, that's what we're made up of, right? One body, many parts.
but dialing it down even further, if you're involved in a local church and and you want to belong again to a a larger fellowship that that encourages local churches and encourages Christians afar off, we would love you to join with us. And again, if you're a pastor, teacher, evangelist, missionary, pastor of a local church and you need that kind of covering and that kind of encouragement, why not join us? We'd love to have you. Why is this? Finally, finally, here's why.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (28:56.91)
So if there's any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, Paul says, Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and in one mind. And here it is, do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility, count others more significant than yourselves. And then he says, Let each of you look not only to his own interest, but also the interest of others.
Having this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not count a quality of God with God to be something grasped, but he emptied himself and he took on the form of a servant. And if I could, in closing, encourage, especially the brothers that are in ministry, the thing that I love most.
Like many things about it. But one of the things I love most about the fellowship of CMFI is this is that the people, the men, and of course the men and women who are part of this organization and supporters, they all have a servant's heart. It's not, look at my ministry, look at my namesake ministry, look what I've done, look what the Lord's done through me. It's it's not about quantity of disciples, it's about quality of disciples. It's about making disciples and going out there and compelling the lost to commend.
And and the encouragement that I receive and I try to give to other pastors and ministers and teachers and evangelists and missionaries is this that I would say, you know, I would be very concerned what the Lord's doing, what what is the Lord doing in your ministry, brother? And tell me what's going on there and how how can I pray for you and how can we support you and and and really work with you and tell me what's going on so I know and and how I can bring that before the Lord for you and and just the encouragement that we can give one another is
Is amazing because again, in these times you know that many people are out for themselves promoting their ministries and their methods and their means and and and the sort of seeker friendly faith and this purpose driven faith and this denominational based faith that's all about my organization, my thing, my and we get our eyes off Jesus, we get our eyes on ourselves, promote ourselves and our ministries, and forgetting that we're all to focus on one thing.
Concerning The Times: Howard Green (31:20.972)
And that's the glory of Jesus Christ, the building up of the church, and the equipping of the saints, especially as we say the day approaching. So, dear friends, I want to close with this. encourage you to take a look at CMFI. Again, this is sort of a departure what I would normally do on the podcast, but I wanted to let you know the group that I belong to. Now, of course, my ministry is called Concerning the Times, and that's that's a concerningthetimes.com. And that's probably why you're here, but you Concerning the Times podcast.
